Inside Missolonghi's lagoon lies a small island with a small church sitting on it. This island is Klisova. I always looked at it from a distance, so now was the time to visit, on the occasion of the battle of Klisova reenactment.
The whole landscape is very special. The lagoon goes as far as the eye can see. Wooden hats are built inside the lagoon, many of them being inhabited by the local fishermen.
Today the locals are preparing to take part in the reenactment. Some wear the traditional uniforms and some others dress up as Arabs and Turks holding riffles, swords and banners.
A narrow strip of land takes me close to the island. At this point, boats can take you to the island. There is a lot of people gathered around to watch the show. There is a special place set for the media and many chairs for the visitors. At that spot I couldn't take great pictures, so I asked a boatman to take me to a different strip of land inside the lagoon. This was the place where the Arabs would start their attack from. The idea in the first place was for me to be able to be on the island during the battle, but the people who organise the event wouldn't let me because there were explosives set on the island.
At the spot where I was standing, I could only see the Arabs, but that was the best I could do. When the battle came to its end I had to wait for some time at this land strip for a boat to come by and pick me up.
I went back to where everyone was sitting and took a second boat to visit the small church of Agia Triada (Holy Trinity) that lies on the island of Klisova.
