In Edirne in Turkey (Adrianoupolis), a great gathering of Romani people, as well as visitors, takes place around the fields of the Pehlivani stadium (Sarayici Campus) each year.
They started wrestling. Nobody was backing up. From where I was standing I could not take good pictures. When I approached the wrestlers, the watchers started yelling at me for ruining their view. I decided to be exactly behind the referee in order not to disturb anyone and when I saw something interesting I took pictures as fast as possible.
Annual dancing on fire (Anastenaria) taking place in a village nearby Salonica. A very old custom and very famous in Greece. A lot of people visit from Salonica to see the event.
An ecstatic festival of drinking and dancing to Dionysian rhythms takes place in the historic city of Missolonghi. The grand event is the parade of the horses along with the arm bearers.
The annual festival of Matala beach. A large hippie movement used to live here in the nearby caves. Every summer, a festival is organized with music and dancing until the morning.
The days of Avlona as locals call it. After the festival in the ancient city of Vrykous, Olympians go and stay in their houses in Avlona. This is a village near Olympus where Olympians grow vegetables and grapes. Music and dance is present as usual.
